Triggerise is scaling its pioneering positive choices initiative with the launch of its full membership-based programme Tiko on WhatsApp in both Kenya and India.
Started by the social impact organisation in Kenya in 2015, Tiko is used to motivate people – primarily young women and adolescent girls – to take care of their health and well-being and so make positive life choices.
Once signed up to Tiko – through either self-enrolment or a locally-based entrepreneur - Triggerise uses nudges like reminders, discounts, in person and digital follow-ups, and reward points to encourage users to access and use healthy products and services.
Among these are sexual reproductive health services with Tiko helping users find services in a large network of clinics and other healthcare providers. In return for using and rating a service, Tiko members earn “Tiko Miles” or reward points that give access to discounts on a variety of locally-based goods and services.
In this way, Tiko also supports entrepreneurs and adds value to local economies.
Membership is accessible through a membership card, SMS, or messaging apps. Making full membership of Tiko available through WhatsApp mid-2020 enables Triggerise to increase reach and meet users where they communicate the most.
Tiko is powered by Turn.io’s technology which was developed to help social impact organisation teams have private, personal and life-changing conversations at scale.
